About Shared Wellness

Shared Wellness offers online counselling for individuals and couples across British Columbia and Ontario. Our approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that therapy should make room for your relationships, culture, identity, and the experiences that have shaped you.

South Asian Women Who Saw a Gap in Culturally Aware Online Therapy in Canada

Shared Wellness was created by Jas Lachar and Jagdeep Chahal, two therapists with a shared belief that mental health support should feel personal, culturally aware, and genuinely human.

Through both our work and lived experience as Canadian South Asian women, we understand how family expectations, cultural values, relationships, identity, and individuality can overlap in complicated ways. We created Shared Wellness as a space where clients can explore what they are carrying without leaving those important parts of their story outside the room. We offer online counselling in English and Punjabi for clients across BC and Ontario.

Jas Lachar, RSW

Hi, I'm Jas. For over nine years, I have had the privilege of working alongside individuals and families through life's challenges across a variety of mental health settings. Today, I help adults and couples navigate anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, stress, and other emotional challenges with warmth, compassion, and curiosity.

Alongside my private practice, I work in Reproductive Mental Health, where I work with individuals and families experiencing fertility challenges, pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, pregnancy and infant loss, and the transition to parenthood. This specialized work complements my broader practice of helping adults and couples through life's many transitions and mental health challenges.

At the heart of my work is the belief that meaningful change begins when people feel seen, understood, and accepted. While we cannot always change what has happened to us, we can deepen our understanding of ourselves, reconnect with our strengths, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence. Whether we work together for one session or many, my hope is that you leave feeling understood, supported, and with something meaningful to take with you.

Jagdeep Chahal, RSW

Hi, I'm Jagdeep. For over eight years, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals and families through life's challenges across a variety of health care and community settings. Today, I help adults navigate anxiety, depression, stress, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, and emotional wellbeing with compassion, honesty, and genuine care.

Alongside my private practice, I work as a hospital social worker, supporting individuals and families through complex medical experiences, unexpected life changes, and times of uncertainty. These experiences have strengthened my appreciation for the resilience people carry, even during life's most difficult moments, and continue to shape the way I support my clients.

At the heart of my work is the belief that healing begins when we feel heard, accepted, and supported. While life may not always unfold the way we hope, therapy can offer perspective, encouragement, and a reminder that you do not have to face life's challenges alone. Whether we work together for one session or many, my hope is that you leave feeling understood, supported, and with something meaningful to take with you.
